Staff
Gene Spain studied at Middle Tennessee State University, and earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. He then attended the Florida Institute of Ultrasound in Pensacola, and began his career as a Sonographer. He spent five years as the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program Director and Assistant Professor at Volunteer State Community College. Since 2007, Gene started his own company, Medical Imaging & Staffing Services, and has worked as a Sonographer alongside physicians across Middle Tennessee. With over twenty-nine years of experience as a Registered Sonographer, Gene is committed to using his experience and knowledge of Ultrasound to prepare his students at MTCVI for a successful and exciting career in this field.
INSTRUCTOR
rAY rUTHERFORD, bS, RDCS (AE,PE), RVT, RDMS, (ABD,OB/GYN)
Ray Rutherford has over forty years of Allied Health care experience which includes ten years as a Respiratory Therapist and thirty years as a Registered Sonographer in multiple modalities. Ray has worked in Echocardiography in Indiana, Missouri and, most recently, eight years as a cardiac sonographer at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN. Ray previously taught ultrasound at the University of Missouri, earned a Bachelor’s degree in Management and worked eighteen years as the Technical Director of an echo lab in Missouri. Ray’s experience, credentials, and a passion for teaching will ensure the success of each student at MTCVI.
Becky Miley received her Bachelor’s Degree in psychology at Western Kentucky University before earning her Master’s in Library Science at Vanderbilt University. Becky came to Middle Tennessee Cardiovascular Institute in October 2017 after earning a Technical Certificate in Accounting from Nashville State Community College.
